At Just Cats all of our receptionists, technicians, kennel attendants and office staff have received extensive training in customer service and are extremely dedicated to the well-being of your animals.

Our Doctors

Kathleen J. Huntsman, DVM
Dr. Kathy is a long time resident of Fredericksburg, having attended Maury, Walker-Grant, and James Monroe (1978). Dr. Kathy graduated Magna cum laude from Duke University in 1981 and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech in 1988. Dr. Kathy established Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in January of 1996. She resides on her farm in Stafford County with a thoroughbred named Dodge the Bullet, a 10 year old Cavalier named Ollie and two cats adopted from the hospital. Pete was abandoned as a tiny infant and Napoleon, a manx, has his occasional “issues”. Her son, Alden, is in graduate school at the Medical College of Virginia. Emily, her daughter, attends the College of William & Mary. In her free time, Dr. Kathy enjoys sailing on both coasts, ACC sports, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Our Team

Laura has been with Just Cats since October 2007. She graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2000. Laura is also a Master Trainer at a local health club. In Laura’s spare time she enjoys working out and spending time outdoors.

Tiina joined the Just Cats team in March 2015 and has felt at home from the first day. She was born in Finland and lived there until she came to Texas as an exchange student. She has now lived in the states for over 15 years and has settled in Virginia with her husband and kids.

In her spare time Tiina enjoys walking and hiking with and without her two sons and two dogs. She enjoys adventured in nature and hopes to visit all 50 states one day. To relax, she likes to read and spend time with her friends.

In the past, Heidi worked as a Paralegal, but 3 years ago Heidi decided she wanted to transition to the veterinary field. While working on her veterinary assistant education, she went on to work at the Stafford SPCA as a Shelter Technician, then moved on to work at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Woodbridge as a Pet Care Assistant.

Heidi graduated from the Animal Behavior College in January 2015 and obtained her certification as an ABC Certified Veterinary Assistant. Heidi was excited to start her new career at Just Cats in May of 2015.

Heidi lives in Stafford with her husband and three cats, Baer, Pebbles and Shadow. In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, and taking care of her feral cat colony. In addition, Heidi volunteers for the Fredericksburg Bully Paws and the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter.

Renee knew as a child that she wanted to spend her life helping animals. She was a member of Just Cats from 1998-2001. She spent the next 14 years taking care of her three wonderful children and husband. In August of 2015, Renee was welcomed back into the Just Cats family. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with close and extended family, working with her two and four legged family member on their farmette in Orange County, and going trail riding on 4-wheelers/ATV’s.

Kara has been with Just Cats since August 2015. She is finishing up her online course in veterinary assisting and for now she is a Technician Assistant. She loves arts and crafts such as; painting, 3D art, and coloring. She also enjoys horseback riding, which she has been doing for 11 years. Kara has six cats that she rescued, her cats names are: Kittycat, Sparky, Bunny, Lulu, Henry, and Sessy. Lulu is her favorite because every night Lulu sleeps with Kara under her blankets. Kara’s life wouldn’t be complete without cats, especially Lulu.
