At Just Cats all of our receptionists, technicians, kennel attendants and office staff have received extensive training in customer service and are extremely dedicated to the well-being of your animals.
We strive to provide a pleasant and stimulating work environment for our staff. We are pleased and fortunate to have the services of many long-time staff members.
Dr. Kathy grew up in Fredericksburg, received a B.S. at Duke and her DVM at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Pete (pictured) was a few days old when a Good Samaritan brought him to Just Cats and Kathy took him home. He later suffered from urinary tract issues and underwent perineal urethrostomy surgery.
Laura is our busiest bee here at Just Cats, juggling a career as a personal trainer as well. She is important in every aspect of our hospital, participating in patient care and management. Laura’s cat Mehmeh had four kittens in her woodpile in 2012, and Laura found homes for the kittens and kept Mehmeh as her own. Laura’s son is in the Marine Corps and her daughter is in graduate school for Physical Therapy. In her spare time, she paddles boards, snowboards, runs, and bikes.
Renee is our client services early bird, fielding the morning rush of phone calls and inquiries with patience and understanding. She first joined the Just Cats team in 1998, married her high school sweetheart, then left in 2001 to raise two sons and a daughter before returning to the Just Cats family in 2015.
Denise divides her time between client services and patient care. She is interested in the stories clients tell and the questions they ask, and is a friendly and empathetic team member, especially on the phone. Denise enjoys exploring restaurant offerings in the Fredericksburg area and has strong family ties here. She and her siblings play Pokemon together and go on the beach and fishing trips.
Casey is an assistant in the technical and patient care areas of Just Cats. She performs our labwork, excels at nursing care, and is very patient and kind. Her passion for animals has burned inside her for as long as she can remember, and her veterinary career began in 2002. Her work at Just Cats challenges her and engages her mentally -- no two cats are the same! Casey is raising three children and enjoys barre, pilates, being “crafty”, reading, and taking her kids on adventures.
Tiina is one of Just Cats’ smiley team members focused on client services. The two “I”s in her name are not a typo – she is from Finland, was an exchange student and returned to marry her American boyfriend. She is a proud mom of two sons and two FIV positive kitties. Gordie is an older fellow who has battled hyperthyroidism and stomatitis. She adopted her other cat, Heli, when she came to Just Cats to have a nasal polyp removed. Tiina is an expert at administering medication and empathizes with the heartache of worrying about your kitty’s health.
